Since 1981, Murlin Chemical has manufactured bone ash materials used by foundries and manufacturers in the aluminum and other non-ferrous metals industry.
Murlin Chemical was founded by Ed Murray and Jack Devlin to produce mold lubricant materials for industrial casting operations. Initially sold as Synthetic Bone Ash, their product was widely used until industry advancements in the 1970s shifted demand toward natural bone ash alternatives. This transition led Murlin to focus on developing natural bone ash products suitable for evolving foundry requirements. Murlin made its first shipment of natural bone ash in 1981 and has continued to refine its processing methods to produce consistent, high-quality material. Today, Murlin Bone Ash is used by foundries worldwide to coat refractory troughs, furnace tools, and molten metal transfer equipment, supporting reliable casting operations across the aluminum and other non-ferrous metals industries.
